Article: A Nap May Lower Blood Pressure

A Nap May Lower Blood Pressure

Dr. Manolis Kallistratos, lead researcher and cardiologist of Asklepieion Voula General Hospital in Athens conducted a study of 400 middle-aged men and women. The study revealed that those who napped at midday had blood pressure levels that were five percent lower than those who did not nap. Dr. Kallistratos stated that even modest reductions in blood pressure levels could cut the risk of a heart attack.

In addition to the study that Dr. Kallistratos conducted, Turkish researchers found that people who are heavy snorers were more at risk of sudden death from heart problems. Heavy snorers often suffer from a form of sleep apnoea which causes lack of oxygen. However, people who have this issue can sleep at a 45-degree angle while lying on their back lessens the risk.

What is Normal Blood Pressure?

Medical professionals have stated that “normal” or good blood pressure levels should not exceed 120/80. Many doctors take into consideration the age and current health status of individual patients. If you have consistent high blood pressure, your doctor may prescribe medication to help you keep it under control until changes are made.

Diet and Exercise to Help Lower Blood Pressure

Depending on your current health status and lifestyle, your doctor will most-likely request that you improve your diet and exercise more. Eating healthy and including a variety of fruits, vegetables, poultry and fish to your diet is recommended. Your doctor will also request that you stop eating and remove junk food and processed foods that are filled with sugar and empty calories as well as lack nutrition from your diet. While this may seem harsh and difficult to give up your favorite treats, it is your health that is at risk.

Exercising is something that many adults don’t seem to have time for or lack motivation. Exercising 30 minutes per day, most days of the week is recommended. If you are the type of person who doesn’t have time in their busy schedule for exercise, incorporate small forms of it into your daily routine. For example, when you go to the grocery store, park far away from the entrance so you have to walk a bit, walk down a few extra isles in the store for some added exercise.

If you are someone who is bored from walking around the same track every day, make things more interesting and switch things up. If brisk walking is your favorite form of exercise, go to a different park every day or walk through the local mall from one end to the other. This is also an excellent choice during winter since you will be walking indoors at the mall.

You can also do a variety of different exercises. For example you can walk at your favorite park one day, at the mall another day, go swimming at the local lake, beach or pool, go to a tai chi class, yoga class or aerobics class at your local gym or community center. Invite friends along so you can entertain each other with conversation as you are working out.

If you require special attention or need someone to motivate you, hire a personal trainer. Explain to your trainer that you don’t really like to exercise and if they can make it interesting and fun that will be appreciated.

Natural Blood Pressure Supplements

Some blood pressure medications have a variety of side effects, including dry mouth, dizziness and frequent urination. This ill feeling patients feel when taking medication encourages them to find alternative methods to maintaining blood pressure levels. This is why many speak to their doctor about the natural blood pressure supplement PD120. This supplement is natural and safe, it helps maintain healthy blood pressure levels, it’s made with natural ingredients, has no negative side effects, and improves strength, energy, libido and motivation.

PD120 could be the answer you have been looking for. You of course still need to maintain a healthy lifestyle and follow the guidelines your doctor has established for your particular health issues. Before you begin using any supplement it is recommended to speak to your doctor specifically about PD120.

It is essential that you discuss this and all supplements with your doctor before adding them to your daily regimen. While they are certainly helpful, your specific healthy issues may require changes to be made. For example you may require an adjustment in your high blood pressure medication in order to add a natural supplement to your daily routine.

While you are making adjustments to your lifestyle, try to find some time during the midday to take a brief nap. This helps to lower blood pressure levels and will have a positive affect on your overall health. Taking good care of your health is essential to you living a long, happy, healthy life!
